After a few skincare posts I am jumping back onto hair again. This time I wanted to share with you my first Kérastase experience.
Out of a total of 5, I've tried 3 products in the Kérastase Chronologiste range:
A rinse-out pre-shampoo exfoliant (200mL) $55
A shampoo (250mL) $53
A conditioning masque(200mL) $72 - this is basically the conditioner as there is no other rinse-out conditioner in this range
That's a whopping $180 in total.
There are also a fragrance oil and a thermal protection spray in this range which I will not be reviewing in this post.

Pre-shampoo
The exfoliant is my favourite part of this hair care routine. I usually do not pay too much attention on how a product itself looks but this gold-coloured gel with sparkly granules is just too beautiful to not mention anything about it. I apply it to damp hair, concentrating on the scalp to clean away any product build-up (pet peeve alert: there is no such thing as "detox" like it is claimed, but it appears that this term refers to "deep cleansing"). Although I have to use quite a lot of the exfoliating gel in order to cover the whole scalp, it is worth the time and effort because this step makes the next shampoo step much easier.
Shampoo
Compare to the other products in this range, the shampoo is nice to use but it has not wowed me. It is a clear gel which lathers well if used after pre-shampoo. Whenever I skip pre-shampoo (mostly due to laziness) I would end up needing to shampoo twice to feel properly cleansed. This is partially because I use a considerable amount of dry shampoo and other styling products in my hair.
Masque
Since there is no other "conditioner" in the Chronologiste range, the masque is essentially the conditioner. In any case, "masque" is a better description for the product as it has a very rich and luxurious texture. When I have time, I like to leave the masque in for at least 15 minutes before rinsing it off to feel that I am getting the maximum possible impact. Otherwise, it also works as I normally would with conditioners - apply to cleansed, wet hair and rinse off. There is a rather strong floral fragrance in both the shampoo and the masque, which does linger throughout the day. For those who do not like this fragrance, it can be a deal breaker.
Results
After using the set a few times consecutively I can really feel a difference to my hair. My hair feels lighter (I think largely due to the pre-shampoo exfoliating treatment) but at the same time mid-length to ends feels smoother. My scalp feels healthier, and there is less itchiness and dandruff.
I have really enjoyed using them and I can see myself re-purchasing the pre-shampoo, and possibly the masque. However, I do feel that there are other conditioners/masks out there which would do a similar job at more affordable prices.
