Winter + an insane amount of hand washing + an infinite amount of hand sanitiser = I need all the hand creams in the world!!
Here's a mini blog post on what I have at the moment (in order of preference) and a few sentences of review on each one.
1. Crabtree and Evelyn Goatmilk & Oat
Smells great and super nourishing. Beautifully soft hands within minutes. Doubles up as a very effective body cream as well. Crabtree & Evelyn had a recent overhaul. Pictured is the old packaging. Luckily the formulation of Goatmilk & Oat appears to remain the same.
$34.5 | 100 mL
2. L'Occitane Intensive Hand Balm (25% shea butter)
An intensive treatment cream for very dry hands. L'Occitane 25% shea butter hand cream has made to my must-have list every winter, but now I need this more than ever. Because it is thick and leaves a residue, I use it only as a night treatment.
$47 | 150 mL
3. L'Occitane Shea Butter Hand Cream (20% shea butter)
This is a hand cream that everybody seems to love, and not surprisingly so. It heals chapped and dry hands in less than a couple of days. Absorbs reasonably well considering it is a heavy-duty product. It has a nutty unisex fragrance.
$45 | 150 mL or $15 | 30 mL
4. Endota Spa Organics Signature Blend Hand Therapy
Natural plant-based products often require extra effort to rub in, but this hand cream is rather easy to absorb without leaving a greasy residue. Provides a lighter moisturisation than the hand creams above. I adore the Endota Signature scent (bergamot, lavender and ylang ylang) which reminds me of spa treatments.
$35 | 90 mL
5. Clarins Hand and Nail Treatment Cream
Clarins products are generally nice to use - but most of them are over-priced - this hand cream included. It is effective and it moisturises well without being too greasy. I love Clarin's flat tube which is easy to carry in pockets and handbags. It has a strong floral scent that reminds me of grandma; it's a love-it or hate-it fragrance.
$44 | 100 mL
6. Du'it Tough Hands For Her
I believe that all skincare products are unisex, the fact that Du'it makes a version of hand cream "for her" really puts me off. Compared to the original (presumably "for him") version, this hand cream contains a few extra ingredients, such as sweet almond oil and palmitoyl tetrapeptide-7, both of which can be used by all genders. Even though it is not greasy, Du'it is a barrier cream which leaves a rather sticky feeling. I am also not a fan of the scent which smells like craft glue to me.
$9.95 | 75 g
7. Kotia Revitalising Hand and Nail Cream
This hand cream was gifted to me. It is a lovely cream, fully absorbed in seconds and very moisturising. It comes with a pump which is very handy. I am not a fan of the muted floral smell, but each to their own. Kotia is a New Zealand brand featuring the use of deer milk. I must admit I feel uncomfortable to support harvesting milk from deer for skincare. I am okay with some animal products (that includes goat milk, see above), but how far do we go? A line needs to be drawn somewhere.
$32 | 50 mL
