It's a wrap!
I had an amazing 2017 - the highlight was, of course, my beautiful daughter's arrival. She is now 7 months old and is turning into a cheekier-than-ever little angel. On the other hand, I had slowed down heaps in my work (having a baby attached to my breasts makes going to 5am wedding jobs rather difficult). The flip side is, I got to stay home a lot more, and I have finally tried many beauty products that I have stored away in my cupboards, wardrobes, drawers... many of them were still in original shopping bags and courier satchels!
In this post I would like to share my best discoveries in 2017.
1. Elizabeth Arden Advanced Ceramide Capsules
These little capsules contain a silky, oil-like serum which retexturised my skin in a matter of weeks. When I packed my hospital bag my effort was focused on packing enough of these (instead of packing enough underwear, which the Mr had to run to Kmart to get me some).
2. Lancome Advanced Genifique Yeux Light Pearl Eye Masks
I haven't been having enough sleep since my daughter was born, and this mask is my secret to look like I am still human for special events. They smooth out my fine lines and dark circles in 10 minutes.
3. Clinique Moisture Surge Supercharged Concentrate
This has to be one of the best (if not the best) hydrating serums I have used, and I have used many. It is lightweight but it feels like I have hit my own face with a water bomb. It can be used close to the eyes too. (Pictured is a 15mL travel size which is available from the Clinique website for only $18)
4. PONi Cosmetics Brow Pop!
I was a little surprised that this little highlighter beats all the other "higher end" makeup I have acquired this year. Nowadays, getting my brows done properly is a luxury which I just don't have time for, so I draw my brows onto my face irrespective of how my brow hair has grown. I use Brow Pop! just under my brows and my brows actually look quite decent.
5. HIF Growth Support
Three months after giving birth my hair started to fall out in clumps. It is a condition called “post-partum hair loss” which is not uncommon. Although I knew that sooner or later my body would sort itself out (it can take up to a year, or at least until breastfeeding stops), it was still very alarming to see clumps of hair gathered on top of the plughole after shower every morning. After using another popular brand of hair-loss prevention products (and was convinced that they did not work), I switched to HIF. Within 2 weeks the hair loss stopped. After 4 weeks, new hair started to grow. I now have trouble to tame down all the baby hair growing around my forehead, but that is a good problem to have.
6. Antipodes Divine Face Oil
I can’t leave this product out just because I have already thrown away the bottle and couldn’t include it in my “2017” picture. It is a winter-skin saviour. There isn’t one Antipodes product I don’t like, but this is an absolute standout because it is drastically nourishing and it sits well under makeup – these two things don’t always go together. (I took this picture a while ago, intending to write a post but, oh well, that didn’t happen).
I would love to know what your best discoveries were in 2017!
