The bi-annual Priceline skincare good bag is here!!!
I knew this was coming and I spent the last 72 hours (or more) crafting my purchase list.
The goody bags are Priceline's version of GWP (Gift with Purchase). There are 6 different bags every year. 2x hair care, 2x makeup, 2x skincare.
This is my second goody bag. I got a hair-care goody bag in February - it was a great bag, and I have only just started my third product in that bag.
I don't really care about the makeup bag - without being snobby (which I probably am) - Revlon and L'oreal do not excite me.
So here it is - the skincare bag! This is my first skincare bag. I have only recently discovered a range of fantastic and relatively affordable skincare products stocked in Priceline - I use a few things from Antipodes and Sukin every now and then.
Priceline reckons the bag "valued at over $340". To qualify, spend $69 or more on brands participating in the goody bag.
The bag is really well constructed. I mean, it does not look like those from a $2 shop. I think I would pay $10 for it, and my mum would love to bring this to grocery shopping.
Inside the bag:
Category #1 - I would get the bag just for these 4 products
Goodness Certified Organic Chia Seed Oil 20 mL (full size) $19.99 | Certified organic? Sold. I don't even eat organic food. But whenever a skin product is organic, you can have my wallet. Key (and only) ingredients: Chia seed oil and meadowfoam seed oil. I have no idea what is meadowfoam.
Sukin Super Greens Nutrient Rich Facial Moisturiser 125 mL (full size) $12.99 | What face moisturiser comes in 125mL and less than $13? Some ingredients include: sesame oil, avocado oil, carrot seed oil, goji, parsley and kale extracts. Sounds like a delicious salad.
Antipodes Hosanna H2O Intensive Skin-Pumping Serum 10 mL (one-third size) ~$16.33 | I have used this before and it smells lovely. It does quite a good job in hydrating my skin. Some ingredients are lavender and mamaku black fern leaf extract, the scent comes from essential oil fragrances of rose and cardamon. Just so you know, my hubby said it looks like thousand island sauce.
Thursday Plantation Nurture Oil Bio-Perfecting 60 mL (full size) $13.49 | It says "helps improve the appearance of scars, stretch marks, dehydrated skin, sun-damaged skin, ageing skin". Wow. It sounds like the only thing I would ever need for my skin. Completely natural with the oils of sweet almond, wheat germ, grape seed, hypericum, calendula, rosehip, mandarin and lavender.
Category #2 - the wet wipes
Essano Rosehip Gentle Cleansing Facial Wipes (20) (full size) $9.99 | It says it contains certified organic rosehip oil. And alcohol free! There is only minor one problem - I don't use facial wipes.
Swisspers Rosehip Rejuvenating Facial Cleansing Wipes (25) (full size) $6.69 | More rosehip oil. More wipes.
Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleansing Wipes (25) (full size) $7.49 | 3 packs of wipes in the same bag is excessive. But they are free, so I will stop complaining. Gosh these wipes are expensive. I buy baby wipes for cleaning my spatulas and mixing plates - they are $3 for 80 wipes.
Category #3 - the cleansers
Biore Blemish Clearing Scrub 127 mL (almost full size) almost $9.99 | This is the most bizarre gift size ever - a shocking 3 mL less than the full size. Someone has actually gone through the effort of sticking a "127mL" sticker over where the original size is printed. Um... I will give it a go but I am not too sure if I would like it: I see "synthetic wax... yellow 5 and red 30" in the ingredients list.
Olay Total Effects Foaming Cleanser 100 g (full size) $13.99 | I will get to this one, eventually, after finishing my 2x 1L "industrial size" Dermalogica cleansers.
Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser 125 mL (full size) $9.29 | The sticker says "No.1 Dermatological Skin Care Brand in SG". I think SG means Singapore. That's a bit random.
NIP+FAB Glycolic Fix Daily Cleansing Pads (5 pads) ~$2.92 | These look interesting. They look like the Dermalogica Daily Resurfacer I have used, but at 1/5th of the price. I can't wait to try these out. The plastic case looks like it could be great for up-cycling (this word is new to me, I hope I am using it right). This is the first time I have a NIP+FAB product. I thought they sell nipple creams.
Category #4 - the waters
La Roche-Posay Thermal Spring Water 50 g (full size) $9.99 | Possibly the most expensive water I will ever use.
Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water 125 mL (full size) $6.95 | This could be replacing my Bioderma micellar water, but without the cucumber extract. I wonder if I can filter and drip some cucumber juice in - Voila! J'ai Bioderma!
L'oreal Gentle Eyes & Lips Express make-up Remover 125 mL (full size) $13.99 | (technically water & oil) This was my first ever eye makeup remover. I had it before I learned how to do eye makeup properly. At least I knew that my improper eye makeup was removed properly by a makeup remover. That helps.
Category #5 - the masks
Montagne Jeunesse 6 g (trial size) ~$1.20 | A full size is 20 g and it is meant for one use. With 6 g I think I can choose either forehead or nose. I am very impressed at the ingredients: kaolin, witch hazel, glycerin, sea salt, willow bark extract, rosemary leaf oil, aloe vera juice, green tea extract, ginseng root extract, evening primrose flower extract, etc. No nasties.
Model Co Instant Hydro-Glow Miracle Mask 1 kit (full size) $12.99 | Woah! $12.99 for one use is a bit steep. The mask feels like a paper mask with the main active hydrating ingredient being sodium hyaluronate.
Category #5 - the lip balms
Nivea Repair and Protection SPF 15 4.8 g (full size) ~$4.49 | This one goes to my hubby. He doesn't like Nivea but this is one of the few things (in this bag) I am willing to share with him.
Burt's Bees Coconut & Pear Moisturising Lip Balm 4.25 g (full size) $6.99 | Did you say coconut and pear?? This could be the best combination ever, for lip balm, or ice-cream.
Category #5 - those do not belong to any other categories
Bondi Sands Reusable Self Tanning Mitt $9.99 | The reviews on Priceline website is consistently... bad. Happy that I am not missing out, I don't tan.
Neutrogena Cool Dry Sport Sunscreen Spray SPF 30 155 g (full size) $16.99 | This comes at such a right time! I used my sunscreen on the beach last summer and I still got a burn. It turns out my sunscreen wasn't waterproof, and has expired (doh!)
Dr Lewinn's Eternal Youth Day & Night 15 g (trial size) ~$21.00 | "Eternal Youth" is the kind of phrase that I am willing to hand-over my money to, even knowing that it can never be true.
Egyptian Magic All Purpose Skin Cream 3 mL (sample size) ~$1.78 | I always thought this is similar to 8 hour cream but the ingredients seem much better: olive oil, beeswax, honey, bee pollen (what's that for?), propolis & royal jelly. Sounds like another delicious accompaniment for ice-cream.
Manuka Doctor ApiClear Skin Serum 5 mL, ApiRefine Targeted Wrinkle Filler 3mL and ApiNourish Rejunvenating Face Mask 7mL (sample size) ~$20.00 | This line is expensive! This is going to be the most expensive (and smallest) trial kit I have used.
Category #6 - the surprise
Alpha Keri Body Slimfit Stretch Mark Reductor and Slimming Serum 200 g (full size) $49.99 | I thought I had a pretty good idea of what I would find in the bag - not this one. I unzipped the goody bag and this box was the first thing to squeeze itself out. This product is massive (a 5c coin there for comparison). The instruction says "apply morning and evening in a circular motion into problematic areas". I think that means everywhere.
Total value of the products = $299.51, which means the tote bag alone is worth $40 (at least that's what I would tell my mum! "Hey look I've got a $40 bag for you").
I purchased these to qualify my minimum $69 spending:
Olay Regenerist Advanced Cleansing System at 40% off - $20.99
Antipodes Divine Face Oil at 20% off - $22.99
Antipodes Avocado Pear Nourishing Night Cream at 20% off - $42.39
Sukin Hydrating Facial Masque at 20% off - $12.79
Sukin Super Greens Detoxifying Clay Masque at 20% off - $12.79
Thursday Plantation Macadamia Oil at 20% off - $13.99
Great addition to my existing stash! I will get around to these in two years' time.
